The Registry of Advanced Diabetic Retinopathy needs assistance from ophthalmologists, other eye health professionals and low vision services to recruit suitable candidates based on clinical evaluation.
Suitability for inclusion into the registry is currently based on the following criterion:
RADAR will recruit any patient with diabetic retinopathy who has required intervention with either laser, intravitreal injections or vitrectomy in at least one eye.
Other referral information required from the treating ophthalmologist:
- Diabetic retinopathy grading
- Presence or absence of diabetic macular edema
- Visual loss is important and is defined as (for worst eye):
Mild
Better than or equal to 6/12
Moderate
Worse than 6/12, up to 6/60
Severe
Worse than 6/60
Any ocular co-morbidity will be assessed and considered in the analysis of study data, but not act as a specific exclusion criteria.
